Many are those who have asked me a tutorial where you can see how to do High Dynamic Range images, a technique commonly known as HDR (High Dynamic Range).
For who knows not the art, Flickr There are many pictures of this style. Also in Artists of Photoshop There are two clear examples.
Usually found in the tutorials are based on network Photomatrix or function that brings the latest versions of PhotoShop. While there is no denying that having the knowledge needed these two options are best,it is also true that a tutorial using these roads may be long, tedious and not always with the desired results.
But … there’s always another option. At least to simulate the effect, there is a very simple way in few steps will get fabulous results.
Step 1
We opened our photo and duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J). In the duplicated layer we change the blending mode to Overlay and lowered its opacity to 50%. To complete this step, we merge the layer down (Ctrl + E).
We will see that in this way and we are beginning to highlight a little lighting and textures.
Step 2
Double layer again (Ctrl + J). What we do is desaturate the duplicated layer. For this, let’s Image> adjustments> desaturate (Ctrl + Shift + U).
Then invert the image from Image> Adjustments> Invert (Ctrl + I). Indeed here we should see the image as if it were a negative.
To complete this step, go to Filters> Blur> Gaussian Blur and give a high value, around 40%. Here is a picture of the result of these steps to reference, since the value of the blur also depends on the size of the image that we are working.
The magic touch will give it back to the mergers. We change the layer mode to “Overlay” and it is taking color …
Depending on our image, we will double again this last layer to enhance the effect and then play with the opacity of the layer to decrease if we move from “revolutions.”
Step 3
Indeed, the tutorial is over. However, it can consider the following points to get a better result (here is the small contribution of its own):
-
CURVES:
A small adjustment of curves never hurts. If you is very clear the whole image, perhaps using a curve fitting and bowing down the line easily correct this defect. -
BUBBLE:
Many artists that perform this type of imagery vignettes added to the image. Depending on whatever the image, gives you a very nice touch. Please remember how to add bullets, you need to read again Straighten an image in Photoshop, Tutorial in which since the filter is applied. -
Unsharp Mask:
This filter is found in Filters> Sharpen> Unsharp Mask. The same often helps us to highlight lines and textures. Another good option to experiment.
Here I leave the same results with other techniques:
