If you are looking for actions with amazing effects may feel a bit disappointed with this pack of shares, as these are simple commands to improve everyday workflow.
The set features activities such as “Save for Web” Smart Objects “,” Merge Layers “, etc. find that although all the main menu, function as a shortcut accelerating daily work.

I recommend you pack down and review it a bit. Probably better suited for some than for others, but this can inspire to create our own set of actions to improve our workflow.

The set is for CS2, CS3 and CS4. For the CS5 should probably try and throw some odd error.

If we are not artists, an illustration is not always an easy task, often depending on the need to outsource work. However with a little ingenuity, a lot of knowledge of PhotoShop, and some steps we can perform a simple but effective and powerful naturalistic illustration. The lacertid (Lacertidae) Are a family of sauropsids (reptiles) Native squamous Europe, Africa and Asia which includes several species such as lizards (Podarcis) And common lizards (Lacerta).
No, this is not National Geographic. It is simply the introduction of a text that I had to illustrate a while back.
Thinking that tutorial could write, I remembered this particular job because he’ll take care of the artwork was a graphic designer who can not draw.
Obviously it is not necessary to draw to be a designer, but on several occasions we find ourselves in situations where we must resort to some kind of enlightenment, and if we can not draw, would have to resort to a third party to perform this work.
Following this, I decided to make a series of tutorials where we use the PhotoShop, Very basic drawings for a simple but visually appealing.
In this tutorial we will see how to make a lizard on a leaf and seen through it.
As I was drawing it, I realized the shape directly without resorting to exhaustive search, Google, Images of animals and then decals. And as most designers are half “cars”I am one, I uploaded the way you make to the download site Shapes.
If you want to make the same shape, then download the picture of the animal they want to use, it fits with the tool Pen (Pen)And keep it as a Preset of Shape (Pattern Presets) [Edit / Define Custom Shape (Edit / Define a custom)].

Close the image we use to trace and create a new document the size you want to have your artwork. In this case I made a new document 1024 x 768 pixels.
Create a new Adjustment Layer (Fill or Adjustment Layer) Solid color green with the values: C: 75%, M: 0%, Y: 100% K: 0%.

We double-click the Layer (Layer) made in the window Layers (Layers), And in the window that opens, we apply the following Layer effect: Gradient Overlay (effect of layer: Gradient Overlay).

From the window Tools (Tools), Double-click the Color Picker (Color Picker) and create a very dull green with some values: C: 83%, M: 39%, Y: 100% K: 34%.
Select the tool again Pen (Pen), And making sure that is selected Shape Layer (Shape Layers) in the window Options (Options)We began to make curves as shown in the picture below.

After completing the curve as we want, and if necessary, use the command Free Transform (Free Transform), Ctrl + TTo resize the shape to take the size of almost half of our document. If you do not need to resize the shape, use the tool Path Selection (Path selection) (A) how to position the top of the document, leaving the margins of it. Then call the command Free Transform (Free Transform)If you have used before to call back again, and move the form by pressing the Shift, A few pixels down. We accept and press the keys Ctrl + Z to undo what we did.
Using the keypad Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T we will be doubling as to completely cover our document as we see in the picture below.

These forms were part of the rib of the leaf finish below.
In the window Layers (Layers) I modified the blending mode, the Layer (Layer) containing the vector forms of Normal by Screen (Plot) and double-clicking the Layer (Layer), We apply the following Layer effect (Layer Effect):

Duplicate this layer and from the menu Edit / Transform Path / Flip Horizontal (Editing / layout transforms / Flip Horizontal), Mirrors the vectors for both sides of the veins of the leaf.
Now we begin to work with the animal.
Reset the colors to the basic colors (black and white) by pressing the D, And selecting the tool Custom Shape (Custom Shape) and making sure that is selected Shape Layer (Shape Layers) in the window Options (Options}We use the Shape (Form) we have created with our pet.

One could say that we have completed our image. However, if we want the artwork is realistic we must consider some points.
Animals possess, for they are smaller than a certain volume.
To give the impression that the shadow is cast by an animal with volume we follow the following steps.
First we double the Layer (Layer) the animal. Hide one of these Layers (Layers), By clicking the little eye on the left side of it, and, Layer (Layer) visible or active, we right-click the vector mask by choosing Rasterize Vector Mask (Rasterizing vector mask) to convert the vector to pixels.

Like any image based on pixels, we can apply any adjustment to that effect or pixel-based mask.
We go to the menu Filter / Blur / Gaussian Blur (Filter / Blur / Gaussian Blur) and we’ll apply a blur to have the following in mind: the more bulky than the animal, we must apply more blur.
After the image blur selected and paws and are still positioned in the Layer Mask (Layer Mask), Painted them black. This will leave the animal without legs.

Re-activate the layer with the mask vector and we added another mask (this will automatically based on pixels) in which we will paint with the tool Brush (Brush) in gray and black for areas to transition from rigid vector layer with the image of Layer (Layer) we have blurred than before.
In the next image looks like it is becoming the mask to achieve the effect mentioned.

When we finished painting all the regions that we have such “fusion”We use a Gaussian blur to integrate over the cast.
We see at the end of this process an image similar to the next.

Then create a new Layer (Layer) below Layer (Layer) we edited. For this press the button Ctrl, When creating the new Layer (Layer), To automatically create below Layer (Layer) where we stand.
We again stop at the Layer (Layer) with the two masks and by pressing Ctrl + E, We join those two Layers (Layers).
The results obtained so blur a little, almost nothing, for “remove”The hardness of the vector mask.
To complete the picture, create a new Layer (Layer) above all others and, using the tool Gradient (Degraded), Create a gradient from white to transparent by using the Radial (Radial).
We changed the blending mode Normal by Soft Light (Soft Light).
At the end of this process we have a window Layers (Layers) like this:

Finally join all the Layers (Layers) and apply a small blur, minimum, and the filter Noise (Noise) with a very low setting, no more than 2 pixelsAnd Gaussian mode.
We can say that we are illustrators. At least in lizards.

When you’re a web developer you’ll always find some small detail in an image or something that you need to change it visually and will need to contact the webmaster, which may delay your work hours or in the worst days .

That is why we consider to be a web developer is not – and should not, because there are cases that it seems that if – fought to have basic knowledge of editing in Adobe PhotoShop if not to the contrary, from my point of view it would be very useful when you are in one of the situations above.

I’m not one to believe that a developer can do the work of web designer or vice versa, should not abuse, we know that everyone is a specialist in your area, but I know some basic things in PhotoShop if you save a developer a long time .

That’s why we bring you a link to some tutorials which I believe are very successful on basics of image editing a web developer should know like changing the background color to an icon or learn to improve the selection of a path with the option of expansion and contraction, among other things.

To view this tutorials You can go directly to the post 9 Photoshop Editing Tips Web Developers Should Know

On more than one occasion we shared calendars in various formats, and while the convenience of having everything done is very tempting, it is always good to know that we have tools in PhotoShop to when we have to do something more custom or just want to learn a little more about this great program.

In PSDTuts+ have posted a tutorial explaining how we can make our own calendar using scripts, which usually is generally not used much but it is and with a little knowledge (or help with scripts posted on the web) we can “get juice “to this option.

The Pen tool is very easy to use if you know how. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to create a simple drop of water, note that this tutorial is for beginners who have never used the Pen tool.

One of the “tricks” the Pen tool is to use the fewest possible shooters, the shooters are those squares where it changes direction and join the lines.

1. Select the Pen tool and you click on any part of nuetra document, then up the mouse and a click, the distance is the size of our drop of water.

2. Then back to the first shooter we did and we Otor click to close the figure. Since we close the handles will disappear and we will only have a line in the document. Even with the Pen Tool selected, press Ctrl while you click on the line for shooters to come back.

3. Since the handles are visible by pressing Alt and the mouse positioned on the lower handle. Your cursor should change to a form as “angle.” Hold down Alt and we click and move the pointer to the right side, this is going to make out two shooters shooter more than these are used to bend the lines.

4. We click on another layer and we can see that our drop of water is ready and it was very easy to do.

This is the first part deliveries were more than I do about how to use the Pen tool.

To display this palette we go to ‘Window / Styles. And as always you have to add them to install the following folder:

Those who appear in this list are styles 2.0, which contain different gradients and some to apply to fonts.

I also included some degraded pre 2.0 style These gradients are used to paint as if it were filled with paint pot, either layer or selection. These files with extension.
Separate Line Art is an action that will help the next step, to separate the picture from its background. The process is very tedious and not lose detail.

There is little explanation about it because the picture speaks for itself, and while it is a simple process … what better than to automate it and have ready the graph coloring and give life, no?.
Basically everyone has a very similar form to be loaded in Photoshop, but to erase any doubts, let's see action for action. Continue reading →

Something I’ve been asked much during this time is how to use the resources posted on the blog, either Brushes (Brushes), patterns or styles, the question is always how to apply.
Perhaps many see this tutorial as obvious, but a lot of readers are just beginning to use PhotoShop and still do not know how to do it, so I believe this tutorial useful.
Basically everyone has a very similar form to be loaded in PhotoShop, but to erase any doubts, let’s see action for action.
The first thing I advise always be ordered. Create a folder in My Documents or wherever you like most so-called “PhotoShop” and within that, folders with different resources, “Styles”, “Brushes,” “Patterns” and “Shapes”. These are the categories that I consider essential and basic. Then we can include folders such as “PSD,” “Vector” and all that is included in design elements.
Once all the items ordered, we can see how to handle them within the program. There are several ways:
GENERAL
This allows us to view and upload multiple items (brushes, shapes, etc) from the same window.

For this, we go to Edit> Default Settings Manager and the following window.

As we see, the top combo-box shows all types of adjustment and by selecting one of them will show its current content.
To download an item, we will select only that type of resource is (brushes, styles, etc.) and show the contents, go to “load” button to select the directory created previously. In this way charge any of the elements.
Having done that, we appear in the preview and ready to use. Well, this is one way. Let’s see another way to implement and incorporate new elements individually.
As we all know, each of these elements has its panel or tool to implement.
BRUSHES
Select the tool “Brush” and the top will appear the properties of this tool.

I think this instance is known to all. To select a specific Brush, we went to the window that opens when you click on the arrow marked with a red square. There we will see the following:

Since that little arrow in the upper right corner we can open a context menu where, among various options, find the “Load brushes …” Clicking there will open a window to examine our record so we can select the Brush you need to use . This is shown at the bottom of the Brush Preset.
We already have our brush ready to use!
STYLES
For style is the same procedure as we saw earlier but from the panel “Styles” found on the right sector with the rest of the panels. If you do not visualize, we can open it from the top main menu, Window> Styles.
To apply the desired style, one must select the layer with the font, shape or element to apply the style and click on the chosen style.
FORMS
Custom forms can be found in the toolbar, holding the cursor over the tool “Rectangle”.

As we see, at the end is the item we seek. Selecting this tool will appear in the top panel properties, which handles the same way that the brushes. In this way we can load the way we want.
How many times have we had the problem of making a good photo and find that the horizon is fully tilted, losing some of the magic of the photo and have to forget that picture still remains our favorite.

This effect is so uncomfortable is the result of a misapplication of the rule known horizon, I explained recently in this link. And now, with a couple of Mantilla with PhotoShop, we can solve.

There are four steps very fast and simple and get rescue our magnificent photograph of the recycle bin. No more deleting photos tilted horizons.

Well, then open the photo in PhotoShop and do the following:

1. Select the rule (found in the icon where it appears the dropper, if we let down a few seconds,).

2. Select two points form a straight right in the zone you wish to become horizontal.

3. Image > Rotate Canvas > Arbitrary and accept.

4. Now we just cut the picture to fit the corners again, and issue resolved.

Easy, right?
